Answer
A Short History

CADOLLE is, above all a story of a family:

It is much talked about, and much written about: Herminie CADOLLE invented the very first bra in Paris is 1889.

This women, a friend of the infamous Louise Michel, who had no particular inclination towards this trade, was first and foremost a business women. She was also very much an action women.

One day, she had the brilliant idea of liberating women from the constraints of the corset; she created the very first bra, which supported the breast by means of shoulder straps. Herminie Cadolle had decided to separate the traditional corset into two parts, the top part specifically designed to support the bosom (and called the "corselete-gorge"). Until then breasts were painfully crushed under a long, tight-laced whalebone corset. Herminie's new undergarment, held in place with laces in back and satin shoulder straps, was revolutionary. She displayed her invention in Paris at the Great Exposition of 1900 beneath Gustave Eiffel's recently completed tower. Lingerie has never been the same since. Every season, when designers show off their new collections, a couture sale is often followed by a call to Poupie Cadolle, Herminie's great-great-granddaughter. Her magical underpinnings are known to make a dress fit the way it should.

We shan't go deep into the story of this extraordinary women and her family here, it would take an entire book because Herminie was just the first in a long line of women where each one of her descendants contributed to what could well be called the CADOLLE SAGA.

For the record, Herminie was the first to encourage the weavers of Troyes to incorporate rubber in their threads: it was the era of discovery of the rubber tree. Elastic thread (at the time known as "rubber thread") would soon replace whalebone and lacing.

It should be noted, that it would be Herminie's great-great-grand-daughter who would one day instigate the return to this antiquated fashion.

Herminie worked hard to develop her business, and the awards reflected this success: medals from Saint-Petersburg in 1904, Chicago in 1906, Saint-Louis in 1907, Paris in 1910 etc...

In 1914 the First World War broke out, and radically changed the undergarment industry. Men went off to fight in the war, and the women were called upon to take charge of the factories. The corsets became extinct, and the bra became a must-have, a product for the new manual workers.

Marie CADOLLE, the daughter-in-law of Herminie, would continue her important work. The First World War had amongst it many other consequences, irreversibly changed the image of the female form.

Until that time, women's clothes served only one purpose-to be beautiful by accentuating the female form. After the war, clothing took on the role of CREATING the female form.

Haut Couture was born...

Marguerite, Marie's daughter-in law, saw the opportunity and seized it-she quickly accessed the advantages of the situation. Up until this point, the seamstress had built the dress for the women who would wear it, now it would be the women who would wear a dress that had been designed to represent a certain style.

Since dresses would no longer be shaped to fit the women, Marguerite CADOLLE decided that she would shape the body of the women to fit the dress; she invented and put into production elasticated materials for which purpose she opened an entire factory.

Low cut necklines, dress of extreme styles; through her creations, Marguerite would build a union between underwear and outerwear.

She had already created the flattening bra for Coco Channel. She created bras in fine silk which were embroidered entirely by hand for the Duchess of Windsor.

Things had really come a long way since the ribbon and strap bras that Herminie made for the infamous spy Mata Hari. She went regularly to Mata Hari's suite at the Ritz. In this privacy Mata Hari would remove the live boas she wore around her neck like amulets and permit Marguerite to take her measurements. Another noted client, Wallis Simpson was "a terrible client, in fact the only one we refused eventually". Annie Giardot is a customer. Moreau is a regular.

When Marguerite died in 1933, at the age of 43, she left the business to her daughter Alice, a woman as energetic and creative as her mother. Even during the German Occupation of France, Alice continued to make beautiful lingerie using curtains for materials, Scarlett O'Hara style, when there was no lace to be had.

But, the name CADOLLE remained, much to the pleasure of it's regular clients, synonymous with rare luxury.

Alice CADOLLE would maintain this reputation as of 1933. The reputation of the company amongst the most elegant women in the world would know no bounds.

Many awards celebrate the loyalty of the company to it's high standards. Alice won the most prestigious award of fashion in the United States in 1949, just two years after Christian DIOR, the Neiman Marcus Award.

These days, crowned heads have been replaced little by little by wives of businessmen or oil barons. The princesses of the Middle-East have replaced Russian Archduchesses. Film stars have replaced the stars of the opera. The Cadolle client list is as closely guarded as a queen's true measurements. But a pregnant Barbara Hutton used to fly the staff to her London hotel each month for one of each in every color. Christina Onassis got all her bathing suits from CADOLLE. Catherine Deneuve and Brigitte Bardot must call ahead like everyone else.

Too discreet to name more of her famous clients, Madame CADOLLE divulges that among them figure three queens ("and après tout, how many queens are there today?"). She offers a tattered black slip, full of holes, which a French duchess wants copied. "Voil´ comme les riches sont", she explains holding up the garment, which looks like it's been taken from a trash can. She is one of the richest women in France, and look what she sends me. But, alas she is a duchess." Later Poupie fishes out the underwear of an English aristocrat who has her crest embroidered on each individual piece-even her garter belts. But her best client in recent years, she admits, is neither English nor French, but a "favorite" of one of the Saudi sheiks. She orders twelve sets of everything, explaining, "I have twelve houses and I never carry a suitcase."

"The corset is coming back into style," Madame Cadolle affirms. "Men love their women in them." And men are among her most loyal clients. But they love black."

Today, CADOLLE lingerie is still synonymous with luxury, discretion and the perfect fit. Each garment is custome-made and hand-finished, exclusively in France, with a price that reflects the 12-30 hours of labor that make it a CADOLLE.

Fad? Before this invention in 1889 women never wore bras.
Today... who knows. I don't wear on unless I have too.

Where to buy bras besides Victoria's Secret?

Nono Urbis

I'm not a big fan of the demi cup bra which is all Victoria's Secret carries (plus I don't like the majority of their designs). Where else can I buy nice/cute bras for a similar (or less price)? And it would be nice if the store offered other bra styles like balconette. And I hate shopping online for bras so please just stores available in San Diego.

Other info:
I'm 17, 36C, wide set breasts, hourglass figure, average height and weight

Answer
Check out The Enchantress in San Diego. They used to be in Old Town but now in Mission Valley area. Your size would be easy to find for them, but they can order all SORTS of wild sizes! Also they carry good specialty type stuff where normal bras wouldn't work.

Intimacy is a shop at Fashion Valley, haven't been there, heard its more expensive but some REALLY good bras :)

And a lot of people also seem to like Soma (I've been to the one in Carlsbad at the Forums), but their designs are more plain, not quite as "pretty"

How are bras suppose to fit?

moon

okay, before I go bra shopping again for the third time.. I wanted to know if its normal for your nipple to pop out from your bra whenever you move excessively? Every time I go bra shopping they measure me, Ive been measured at Victoria Secret and they say I'm a C, but a C fits perfect until I start to move... I find my nipples coming out the bra!! I don't understand! should I just move to a 32D? I'm 18 by the way, and my mom is a DD! maybe my boobs haven't stopped growing?

Answer
you are either wearing the wrong size cup or the wrong size style of bra. i.e. if you are sized for a demi bra and really need a full coverage bra. the cut is too low even though it fits.

it is not normal to pop out of a bra. that is an indication your cup is too small. try the 32D or try a different style.

personally I think VS sucks at bra sizing. I have been measured with them 4 times. all people say I am 38D. but i have had 3 very expensive $60 plus bras have wires pop out within months of purchase from VS. Wire popping out is a sign that my bra is a wrong size. I was resized at nordstroms and bought a 36DD in a natori bra and have never had the issue again.

Guys, Whats your bra size?

~ Lin ~

Answer
"Guys" don't wear Bras, (well none of the guys I know do LOL )
GIRLS do and I'm 36c by the way.

PD What's YOUR size, please ?

Bra Size?????

Q. Is it normal for a 12 year old girl to have a bra size: 38A?

Answer
Yes; 38 is your band size - that is the measurement of your ribcage in inches minus 5 - really, this has nothing to do with your breasts, but with the tightness of the bra. 'A' is the cup size a.k.a how big your breasts are.

And Bandaloop, sweetie, learn something for me: The only person telling a girl that she's "fat" is a DOCTOR. Not you, not your mama, but her doctor. Here's a little story. I knew a guy when I was in 5th grade - he was a very overweight boy. Well, let me tell you, I was shocked 6 years later when I 'met' him by odd occurance through a choir festival - he was very thin, had beautiful features, beautiful eyes, long hair, start of a beard.............. Lesson learned. Because, well, you know, YOU might be the one being called fat someday. Half the time, those skinny girls you see in middle school become the overweight ones, and "overweight you" becomes "skinny you".

why do women wear bras?

Lady Elain

I've always wondered why, and I came up with a theory! bras cause breast cancer!

its because they are made out of PVC and other toxic materials.

Young girls begin wearing them early, and the toxins seep into their developing breast tissue, causing maliginant tumors later in life.

that is why breast cancer is the number 1# killer of women in the western world.

someone shed some light on the subject pfhor me?
but we guys like them to flop, so it must be some form of Femi-nazi rebellion to wear bras...hmmm, makes you wonder...

Answer
It's not about "what guys like" it's about being comfortable and being supported. Trust me, it wouldn't be pleasant to watch or feel, going about activities without a bra. Would you like to run with extra bits of flesh flopping, it's uncomfortable. Also most tops show through in some way or another either with a nipple situation or if a top is silky or something. We generally need the support, that's why women have been wearing them for decades.

Stop complaining about what you don't know. Bra's are made out of just as safe materials as any other type of clothing, next you're going to be telling us that underpants cause testicular cancer. Not happening. Do you not think they test these things? It's the 21st century for gods sake and you've just made up a theory with no proof or reason whatsoever. Breast cancer isn't the number one killer or women in the western world (get your facts right) and if bra's were causing it a hell of a lot women would get it. What toxic materials could a cotton bra be made out of?

Should women wear bras all the time?

Eva

Except to bed. I have some friends who choose not to wear bras sometimes and I tell them they're going to have saggy boobs if they keep that up. Is this true? Does gravity eventually bring the ladies way down unless you wear a supportive bra everyday?

Answer
Studies show
Women who wore their bras 24 hours per day had a 3 out of 4 chance of developing breast cancer
Women who wore bras more than 12 hour per day but not to bed had a 1 out of 7
Women who wore their bras less than 12 hours per day had a 1 out of 152 risk.
Women who wore bras rarely or never had a 1 out of 168 chance of getting breast cancer

I'm just saying i prefer not wear a bra unless I'm going somewhere. i find them uncomfortable. I don't know of any studies that not wearing bras sag you breast, i think it just age. and even if it does sag your breast, i rather have saggy boobs than none at all (breast cancer)

Does it really matter if my boobs are big? I wear a size 32 b, I'm 14. my boyfriend wants to feel my boobs, what would y'all say when you felt how small they were? :/ does it matter alot to you? Will he still find me attractive?

Answer
we guys as a whole want girls with massive boobs...but when it comes down to it we will realistically go with our hearts or what we can get, sad as it is we aim for a 10 and settle for anything greater than a 5. i dont want to sound sexist but its true for some reason we want something the thing that we used to suck on our mother, we are messed up that way. but as i said deep down we will be happy with any boobs

Why do guys like asking a girl her bra size?

Me Enamora

Cam't they already see how big or small they are? Why do they need to know the exact bra size you wear?

So, they can tell their friends in detail? LOL
@Charlie Sheen- I doubt men know more about bras than us ladies. The Very Sexy bras by Victoria's Secret make boobs look nice.

Answer
Probably for the same reason girls like asking guys for his WALLET size!

Plus size clothing???? Help?

dat256girl

hello im a 21 year old female..i need help finding cute clothes..all the clothes i see look like things my grandmother would wear.. so if anyone knows of a website other then lane bryant & torrid that sells really cute fun flirty plus size clothing let me know...thanks

Answer
Forever21 has a plus-size section, although it is fairly limited and F21 clothes are cheap in general. Aside from there, you could try department stores like Macy's, JCP, Sear's, etc; or, stores like Target.

Personally, I loove ASOS, and they also have a huge plus-size selection! They're UK-based, so keep in mind size conversions, but shipping is free in the states. Seriously, their clothes are super cute :).

Your best bet would be to look up stylish plus-size blogs! Plus-size fashion bloggers would probably have great recommendations for wear to buy cute clothes.

would i be a plus size model?

Q. i wear a size 4 in dresses, size 5-7 SOMETIMES 9 jeans (depending where i go) mostly 7.

and i'm 5'7

i think plus size models are larger, but models are a lot smaller. haha

i'm kinda stuck between the two. what do you think? i'll add pictures later.
I'M NOT GAINING ANY WEIGHT!!! haha
i'd DEFINITELY want to "regular" model before plus size model, but I'm too big to do that so I'm just slightly considering plus size.
i do NOT want to gain weight though, if anything lose.
i'm 13, and EVERY one of my siblings is 6ft+

i'm sure i'll be growing, hopefully slimming down a bit.
i don't have large boobs. lol

Answer
Plus size models that are booked through the top agencies are between sizes 8 and 16/18 (with some bigger girls doing fit work).
You're a little short for modeling, though - the bare minimum is typically 5'8", and you really need to be even taller to be truly competitive.

When models are in that limbo between sizes their agents sometimes list them on both their straight size and plus size boards to see where they fit in best. I know of a handful of models who are a size 8 or 10 who are marketed as both and get booked for both straight size and plus size jobs, although the work they get is usually more catalog and commercial work than pure fashion work.

You are in the middle, and you need to get in front of an agent who, if he/she has interest in you, can tell you which market to target. No one here on Yahoo can tell you if you are going to make it - that's up to an agent or booker.

You mention "regular" modeling - do you know what that means? I think you are talking about commercial modeling, where people don't have to be ultra-thin or especially big or amazingly beautiful. There are commercial agencies that book people to do tv ads, commercials, advertisements, etc. Think of the Lysol lady or the "where's the beef" lady - they are not gorgeous models but they are "real people" models and can make a few bucks. That might be where you're headed - you don't strike me as fashion model material.

Good luck with whatever you do!

who is the girl in playtex bra commercial?

puma

Answer
I remember when Jane Russell was the spokeswoman for Playtex 18 Hour Bra.

I don't understand... Playtex 18 hour bra?

Sarah

I don't understand this commerical for playtex 18 hour bra... It says 'What could you do it 18 hours?'
Why is it 18 hours, what does that have to do with the bra...?
Please Explain,,,
Thanks!

Answer
It allows you to have the comfort and support of a bra for 18 hours of the day. they don't dig into your shoulders and they don't sag (you don't have to readjust the straps or hooks during a long day). They do have good staying power, but they are definitely not very cute! I would recommend them for more top heavy people who have a very active day.;)

What is the best sports bra for a DD size woman?

Paul B

My friend wears a 36DD bra and she hates jogging because of the bouncing that occurs when she attempts to do so. Is there some sort of super bra that she can buy?

P.S. She also has trouble finding strapless bras. Any suggestions?

Answer
I'm an E, and I honestly have not found a single bra that does the job.
The bouncing is painfull actually.

So I just double up, wear two of the same style sports bras.
The first one I put on is a size smaller in the cup (so DD), this helps squish them tight to my body and then I put one of my normal cup size (E) over top of that.

Large breasts can weigh 2-4 lbs each depending on the size, so it's almost impossible to fashion a sports bra that can support that kind of weight.

For the strapless the best one I have found, is from the new curvation line (can be found at walmart)
It's lined with this sticky sort of thread so it doesnt slip or fall, this is the best strapless I have ever owned and it was only like $20.

How do women feel about wearing sports bras in public?

bill

How do women feel about wearing sports bras in public? If i see a woman wearing a sports bra in public i don't stare at her, or go out of my way to look at her, but i'll definitely take a quick look at her if she's running by. So my question i guess is, While a sports bra isn't "sexy" in a traditional sense, or too revealing, its still basically a bra your wearing (walking, running, biking etc) in front of people. How do you feel about wearing a sports bra, or do you not mind being "exposed" in a sports bra in front of people?

Answer
Sports bra under clothes: Good stuff.
Sports bra exposed: Kinda tacky but if it's cute then it can be mistaken for a shirt.
Sports bra without a top: Mia Hamm looked good that way but it's not a fashion statement.

What is the best kind of bra to wear?

Answer
Bra size: 34/36C.
Amount of bras: Maybe 12.
Types of bras you own: I usually wear full-cup bras with under wires. No padding or anything fancy. Just solid colors. I wear sports bras sometimes too, but only when I just feel like wearing a t-shirt and jeans around or I have to do physical activity. I have some sexy bras too, but they're only worn on special occasions.
What is the best kind of bra to wear? Something comfortable and well-made. You don't want to buy something cheaply made because it will come apart easily and the under wire will start poking you. I think comfort is more important than how the bra looks, personally.

Question about bras :)?

Q. Hey everyone! :) Do sports bras ever get to small? R they kinda like training bras where u grow out of them? I wear a sports bra and i was just wondering if i will ever have to start wearing a bra with cups? SO could u tell me if i willl have to start wearing a bra with cups and if sports bras ever get to small? Thanks soo much. Also I kinda want to wear a cupped bra on special occasions but i dont want my boobs to look like they have grown over night because i wear a sports bra every day. SO can i wear a cupped bra without looking like my boobies have grown over night? Thanks so much for ur help :)

Answer
sports bras are meant to prevent excessive bouncing during heavy activity. However as you probily noticed sports bras are not sized like cup bras. Sports bras are just sized based on your width, while cup bras are sized based on width and size of boobs. It seems like you are wearing a sports bra to do a training bras purpose. So to answer your question as long as your width doesnt increase your boobs cannot outgrow a sports bra. However if your boobs are big enough to fill an A cup, you should start wearing cup bras on a day-day basis. And since a sports bra kinda smothers your boobs to prevent bouncing, when you transfer to cup bras it really will look like your boobs grew overnight, And people including yourself will just have to deal with the fact that you actually have boobs

im in 8th grade boob size 30a and my left boob is a 30 a and my right is like a negiteve thats how small o have a dance on friday and i wont to look great wat should i do and how can i flirt i also am breaking out a little and all of this is stressing me out so i can sleep

Answer
Every girls boobs are like that. No ones breast are the same size. I would maybe get a bra that is 30A with removable padding and take out the padding in your bigger breast cup. That way in the dress you will look even and feel comfortable. You could actually do this for every day wear.

Flirting is easy. Make eye contact, smile, giggle at his jokes (even when not funny), touch his arm while talking to him, when he is telling a story lean in as if you are really interested. I think that will do for an 8th grader. He will love it.

Stop stressing. Take a nice bath, get good sleep, and know that your dance is going to be a blast. Drink lots of water and your skin will clear up. good luck and have fun sweetie

Pink has explained that she noticed many young girls near her Los Angeles home aspire to the hypersexual personae of female celebrities rather than for their careers or talents. She was inspired to write "Stupid Girls", in which she deplores the lack of good role models for girls while encouraging them to cultivate independence and individuality. "There's a certain thing the world is being fed, and my point is there should be a choice", Pink said.[1] Pink said the song was "brought on by several conversations I've had with women and girls. Women have fought so long and hard for our rights and equality, and now all our attention is put on being a size 0", adding that some are "living vicariously through these people who seem to shop all day" rather than focusing on issues such as war and poverty.[2] According to International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals, the song "highlights the culture's relentless and unrealistic pursuit of thinness and unattainable drive for physical beauty".[3] Pink discussed what she called the "Stupid Girl epidemic" during an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Good bra organizer/storage method?

Justine

Right now I've got them in a drawer but I really don't like this. Takes up too much space and it's too hard to find the one I want. Anyone have recommendations on a better way to keep them? I don't have a lot of closet storage left, so something compact is a must.

Answer
I have a 6 hook coat hanger that is just inside my closet door and I hang my bras there. I love it, they are easy to find and don't get bent up. The only ones I can't hang are my strapless ones. You can also get these coat hangers that just hang on the back of the door.

What is Brandy's bra size from storage wars.?

What is my REAL bra size?

amo40s

I have large breasts and have had so much trouble getting measurements in order to get the "perfect bra". Every store gave me different measurements and I'm no better off than I was when I started. I live in the Atlanta area and I was wondering if anyone out there knew where I could go to get measured?

Answer
Victoria's secret, or you can just measure your bra size at your own home! Here it is:

Measure your band size. Run a tape measure all the way around your body just underneath your breasts and take a measurement in inches. Make sure the tape measure is horizontal and fairly snug. Your arms should be down. If this measurement is an odd number, round up to the nearest even number. This should be your band size.[4] If your measurement is already an even number, you may find that this is your band size, or you may have to go up to the next size (i.e, you may have to add 2 inches.) For instance, if you measured 31 inches, your band size should be 32. If you measured 34 inches, your band size may be 34 or 36. Many bra fitting guides and calculators will tell you to add four or five inches to your underbust measurement, but this is not correct. The old method was devised by Warners in the 1930s when bra design was in its infancy and does not work with modern, elasticated bras.[5]
Determine your cup size. The most accurate way to determine your cup size is by using your current bra size as a starting point. The cups are sized relative to the band, so if you were to try a smaller band size but keep the same cup size, the cups would be too small. Instead, you must increase the cups by one size for every band that you go down. For example, if you are currently wearing a 34C bra and your underbust measures 31 inches, then you will most likely need a 32D. On a 30" band, this would be a 30DD etc.

In UK sizing, cup sizes are as follows: AA, A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, J, JJ, K.
Try on a bra with the band and cup size you've arrived at in these steps. You should not regard this as your definitive size until you have tried on a few bras, and even then you will often find you need a different size in different brands or styles of bra.
Check the band size. The correct band size is the smallest you can comfortably wear.[6] It needs to be tight enough that the bra is still fairly supportive without weighing down heavily on the shoulder straps.

You should be able to run your fingers around the inside of the band, but not much more. A good rule of thumb is that you should be able to fit no more than a fist under the back of the bra.
It should fit on the biggest adjustment, but will probably be too tight if you try to fasten it on the smallest size. Bras are designed to fit like this so that you can tighten the band as the elastic starts to wear out.
If the band is roomy enough for you to be able to comfortably fasten it on the tightest adjustment, try a smaller band, for example if a 32D is too loose, try a 30DD. Remember that the cup size has to be changed when you move to a different band size - for every band you go down, you must go up by one cup size in order for the cups to remain the same capacity and vice versa.
If you can only just fasten the bra and the band is painfully tight, even on the biggest adjustment, then go up a band size, for example if a 32D is too tight, try a 34C.
Check the cup size. The correct cup size is the biggest you can completely fill out with no wrinkling of the fabric or space in the cups. You should fill out the cups, but not bulge out anywhere, even in low cut or pushup bras.

Check around the cups for any bulging, not only along the top edges but also at the sides under your arms.
Make sure the underwire encloses your whole breast and lies flat against your rib cage.
If the cups are too big, go down a cup size.
If they are too small, or even if they seem to fit ok, try on a bigger cup size as well to double check. It's a lot easier to tell if they are too big than too small.

How do I calculate my bra size?

Tiffany

Above: 30
Bust: 35
Band: 26

Answer
1) Measure your band size. Run a tape measure all the way around your body just underneath your breasts and take a measurement in inches. Make sure the tape measure is horizontal and fairly snug. Your arms should be down. If this measurement is an odd number, round up to the nearest even number. This should be your band size. If your measurement is already an even number, you may find that this is your band size, or you may have to go up to the next size (i.e, you may have to add 2 inches.) For instance, if you measured 31 inches, your band size should be 32. If you measured 34 inches, your band size may be 34 or 36. Many bra fitting guides and calculators will tell you to add four or five inches to your underbust measurement, but this is not correct.

2) Determine your cup size.

In UK sizing, cup sizes are as follows: AA, A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, J, JJ, K, KK.

3)Try on a bra with the band and cup size you've arrived at in these steps. You should not regard this as your definitive size until you have tried on a few bras, and even then you will often find you need a different size in different brands or styles of bra.

4) Check the band size. The correct band size is the smallest you can comfortably wear. It needs to be tight enough that the bra is still fairly supportive without weighing down heavily on the shoulder straps.

* You should be able to run your fingers around the inside of the band, but not much more. A good rule of thumb is that you should be able to fit no more than a fist under the back of the bra.
* It should fit on the biggest adjustment, but will probably be too tight if you try to fasten it on the smallest size. Bras are designed to fit like this so that you can tighten the band as the elastic starts to wear out.
* If the band is roomy enough for you to be able to comfortably fasten it on the tightest adjustment, try a smaller band, for example if a 32D is too loose, try a 30DD. Remember that the cup size has to be changed when you move to a different band size - for every band you go down, you must go up by one cup size in order for the cups to remain the same capacity and vice versa.
* If you can only just fasten the bra and the band is painfully tight, even on the biggest adjustment, then go up a band size, for example if a 32D is too tight, try a 34C.

5) Check the cup size. The correct cup size is the biggest you can completely fill out with no wrinkling of the fabric or space in the cups. You should fill out the cups, but not bulge out anywhere, even in low cut or pushup bras.

* Check around the cups for any bulging, not only along the top edges but also at the sides under your arms.
* Make sure the underwire encloses your whole breast and lies flat against your rib cage.
* If the cups are too big, go down a cup size.
* If they are too small, or even if they seem to fit ok, try on a bigger cup size as well to double check. It's a lot easier to tell if they are too big than too small.

Where can i find cute 30F bras?

someone

I'm 17, so I don't want anything old ladyish.

Answer
I would recommend buying online from the UK. They offer a lot more size variety and they have cute, non-grandma bras. Note that if you wear a 30F in US sizing, you should try a 30E in UK sizing. If you do plan on buying online, I suggest seeing if Nordstrom carries the bra and either try it on if they have your size in-store and/or read the reviews of the quality and fit of the bra. Also, look at a website called bratabase.com because it has measurements of different sizes and styles of bras, but the measurements are added by members of the site, so you may or may not find the bra you were looking for.

Does anyone get a rash from playtex bras?

Chase's mo

I've been getting this rash that is on my back (only where my bra is) and also on my chest again were my bra is. I just thought it was from working out because I would wear a sports bra and a workout shirt so I thought it was because of the sweat but I haven't been working out for a couple weeks and the rash is still there and gets worse after I have worn this one bra which is made by playtex. Like right now my back itches pretty bad and in the morning it wont itch because I take my bras off at night when I go to bed. Anyone have this same problem?

Answer
Do you wash it? Maybe you're allergic to a chemical in the bra, buy another brand. Has never happened to me.

Question for girls about bras?

smelie_ell

I only have one bra that I feel comfortable wearing because no other ones fit. I have small breasts (smaller than A), but I still think I need a bra. The only problem is that whenever I buy a bra I always end up taking it back because it makes it look like I am purposefully padding. I'm in middle school and I dont want people to think I stuff my bra or something, I'm not ashamed of my size. The bra that I really like now is not too padded and its a girls bra. I'm getting older though and I would like a real bra. does anyone know a good place to get bras that sell in half sizes and aren't too padded?

Answer
Playtex sells bras in 1/2 sizes.
Also, you may want to try Rampage their bras run small

Where can I buy cheap bras that will last?

Bloooop

I am so sick of spending 10-20 bucks on a bra, but it always ends up being a POS. The wires come through and once it goes through the washer and dryer a few times it starts fitting like crap. I'm looking to not spend more then 25 on a bra without some convincing haha. Also, I'm a 32C so if you know of some places that carry that size that would be great cause not all places do. And don't suggest Victoria's secret. I know they have sales and whatnot but it's still too expensive even on sale, and out of the three that I have bought they still give me issues.

Answer
$10-20 for a bra is actually quite cheap...
Idk how you could find a bra for cheaper than that and if you did it would not be good quality.
Here's some places with good quality bras:
Kohl's: $25 and up. Check out the clearance rack for bras $15 and under.
Target: $10 and up. Love their bras! They have some really pretty ones. I got a great quality pushup, it's satiny feeling and lacy and was on sale for $15. I also found a great criss-cross back one for only $6 on clearance. You have to dig around the clearance to find good ones.
Aerie: It's by American Eagle. They are usually $20 and up but they are always having awesome sales.
Places like Macy's & J.C. Penny's have good ones too but they are always $25 and up.

** Aerie also has an abundance of 32Cs. I am a 32C too. They are actually really cute too.

First time how the girls measure her bra size?

Genious

First time how the girls measure her bra size?

Answer
Well if this is the first time you are buying a bra, you should be a smaller size like A or something. But if those are too small:

Run a tape measure all the way around your body just underneath your breasts and take a measurement in inches. If the number is even, add 4 and if it is odd, add 5. This will give you your band size. For instance, if you measured 28 inches, your band size will be 32.

To find your cup size, measure around the fullest part of the bust in inches, not too tightly or the measurement will be inaccurate. Then subtract your band size from this measurement. This will help you to determine your cup size. If the bust size is less than the band size, you are an AA cup. If there is no difference between the two measurements, your cup size is A. A 1 inch difference indicates a B cup, 2 inches is a C cup, 3 is a D cup and so on. You can use this chart to find out your cup size.

minus 1 inches AA
0 inches A
1 inches B
2 inches C
3 inches D
4 inches DD
5 inches E
6 inches F

am i measuring my bra size right?

Courtney S

i am a 32 A right now and i still fit it, but its a bit small. the middle section does not touch my body like it used to. its digging into my skin. so i just re measured with my friend and my first measurment around rib cage was 28, wich makes my band size be a 32, now to the biggest part of the bust, it was a 30. you subtract 28 from 30 and get 2. 2 gives you a b cup. am i right? (shorter- band size before adding 4 because it was even was 28. bust size is 30. can u help me?)
oh ya how do i ask my mom to...i just got like three new bras two weeks ago. i feel weird asking her.
just tell me if i measered right please. and how do i tel my mom i need a bigger bra

Answer
1. With your bra on run a tape measure around your body underneath your breasts. This is your “band” measurement. Make sure the tape measure is horizontal and somewhat snug.

2. Round to the nearest even number measured. For example, if your band size measured 35 inches, your band size should be 36. If you measured 31.4, you band size should be 32.

3. Next measure your bust size. For this you want to measure loosely around the fullest part of your bust. If you pull to tight it will give you an inaccurate measurement. This number should be rounded to the nearest whole number.

4. Now you’re ready to calculate your cup size. For this you need to subtract the band size from your bust measurement: 0 to 1.5 inches = A, 1.5 to 2.5 = B, 2.5 to 3.5 = C, 3.5 to 4.5 = D, 4.5 to 5.5 = DD/E.

Tips & Warnings:

If your cup is wrinkled go down one cup size. If you have bulging try a cup size larger or a design that covers more. If your straps fall down and adjusting them does not fix the problem, try going down a size. If the band rides up in the back try a tighter hook or loosen the straps. If you have strap marks try loosening the straps.

Just tell your mom - there's no special code language. She's your mom and she'll understand.

Bra question (WOMEN/LADIES)?

Mei

So um... I'm very petite and I'm 14. My bra size is supposed to be 24DD but I couldn't fine that anywhere but online (cant order online) I tried 26D, 28C, 30B and I can't find anywhere. I did however find a 32B and the cups are pretty much comfy but if I jump too much it "moves" or "jiggles" too easily (sorry for awkwardness) and I'm thinking its because the band is too big (I'm 23 inches under bust) so can I tell my mom to sew the band? What are my options?

Answer
Ewa-Michalak is a brand that makes custom 24 bands.

Rixie Clip is a bra band shortener. It's okay for small adjustments (i.e. making a 26 band feel like a 24) but it won't work miracles, like making a 32 feel as snug as a 24.

Here are two guides for alterations:

Bra Size Issue? Mid Back Pain around the band/strap where the hooks are?

Hello. I am a petite woman, and I have been having issues with my bra lately. Sometimes I get pain in my mid back where the bra band/strap is, or where the hooks are to make it more clear. I have been fitted however I am still having this issue. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Sometimes the pain is worse on some days than others. I noticed with sports bras I tend not to have this pain. Thank you for your help!
I am probably either an A or B cup however it is possible I am a C. I do not define these as large sizes however, and it would not make sense that this would be the cause of the pain from my view

Answer
Bra size and posture plays a major role in women who tend to have larger breasts. As you said you never feel the pain when you wear a sports bra. I think its best if you will chose bra with more like of a sport bra to lessen your back pain. Wearing sports bra can support the weight of your breast unlike those with hooks.

Correcting a bad posture is also a big help in removing back aches. Many women who tend to have larger breasts use a posture brace corrector. It also helps in the relieve of neck, back shoulder and lower back pain.

What does the bra size 32D mean?

Ryder

What does the 32 mean, and what does the D mean? And what's the smallest size? What's the largest, or one of the largest sizes? And how high or low does it to in the alphabet, and can you explain please?

Answer
Just to add to the confusion for you: bra sizes are based on ratios and not direct measurement. That is, the cup is a ratio of the difference between underbust + 4" or 5" and full bust measurement.

In this way, a "D" is the same as a "C" and a "B" when considering different bands. It's not that D is big and A is small, it all depends upon what body that cup is on.

The cup on a 38A is the same as the one on a 36B which is the same as a 34C which is the same as a 32D which is the same as a 30DD which is the same as a 40AA.

In this way - in all of those examples, the breasts are the same size - the underbust size differs.

Each cup size represents a 1" differential in band-chest measurement.

Let x = cup size:

x = full bust in inches - (underbust + 4" rounded up even)

we can use U for underbust and F for full bust and get:

x = F - (U+4" rounded even)

This means that as U increases, x decreases and as U decreases, x increases.

What is generally perceived as "average" is:
30AA, 32A, 34B, 36C, 38D, 40DD, etc.. These tend to give a perception of "well proportioned" but keep in mind that there is a huge range of what is "normal".

We can say then that anything smaller than these (34A or 36B) might be called "small" while anything larger (36D) might be called "large" -- the more extreme the deviation, the more noticeable will be the perception. 32D would be perceived as "large" whereas the same cup size on a 38 frame would be a 38A which we'd call "small". It's all about the ratio of difference between frame and full bust.

As for the largest size. Women who wear a size of about 52FF tend to need to have their bras made. Playtex makes a stock 56DDD and Goddess makes a stock 56J. A 56J would fit a woman who measures somewhere around 66" (more than 5.5') around the fullest bust.

What am I doing wrong regarding my bra size?

Q. I currently wear 36B size bras (UK size) but depending on the brand, some seem tighter than others. I have one bra that's quite tight and uncomfortable, but another one is the same size that's perfect. I measured myself again, and according to the measurements, I'm a 38B, but they're much too big! Am I doing something wrong? If my straps dig into my shoulders and it feels tight under my breast, what does this mean?

Answer
Bra sizes, at least here in America, vary between brands. I wouldn't worry too much about it. You'll just have to try on EVERY single bra you buy. I mean, I tried on this black bra, it fit so I got the exact same size and brand, just in the nude color. However, the nude-colored bra was too big! Even being the exact same brand!

The lesson here is to always always try on your bras before you them to make sure they fit. And follow the washing care recommended on your bra's tags, because you can subtly change the size if not washed/dried correctly. And your breasts will change size when you grow/gain/lose weight, so don't really be concerned if you outgrow/shrink out of your current bras.

Help finding a backless bra ?

Grace Worr

I want to buy a backless dress for prom(its not completely backless just to my waist) and i have size 32G breasts. I cant find any appropriate bras in my size. Please help!

p.s preferably bras that i can look at online thanks
I am English so I am a size 32G uk

Answer
I don't think those adhesive bras will work for you, and I assume that is the conclusion you hinted at yourself, when you said 'appropriate bras in my size' :)

Maybe something like this could work?
http://www.bravissimo.com/products/lingerie/accessories/low-back-converter-clips-dplus/black/nt02bl/?show=16&sort=1&level=1

Not quite low enough, but it is fairly cheap, so you could get it to try out with.

Or you can try full body versions
http://www.bravissimo.com/products/lingerie/bodies-and-basques/miracle-body/black/ul20bl/?criteria=backless&show=16&sort=1&level=3
(I know it is sold out, don't know when they'll get stock again though)

http://www.herroom.com/fashion-forms-29065-plunge-bodysuit.shtml
(doesn't come as cup-sizes, but seems fairly adjustable, and if it is only for one evening maybe it could work! It is weird-looking though!)

Then there is also this:
https://www.google.com/search?q=Diamante+Backless+Bra+White+by+Splendour&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:da:official&client=firefox-a
It is not truly backless though, it has little simili-stone chains across the back. I know it is not ideal, but it is so limited!

I can't think why more people haven't made extra low backs with straps... It doesn't seem impossible!

Strapless backless bra?

Charisse

I bought this really pretty dress from Earth Bound for prom, but its a halter, low, and backless. Its also silk so the fabric is thin, anyways I'm mildly concerned about the whole no bra thing with it, so I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions? I know vaguely about those adhesive bra's, but I live in a semi-small town and I'm not sure if Victoria's Secrets has them.
Any advice is appreciated. :]

Answer
Try shopping online for them. I know JC Penny's has them. I had ordered one for my winter formal this year (I don't like the whole going braless thing either, I like some support and I think it looks odd when women don't have that). Though you have to be careful with sizing, mainly with pushup ones. I ordered a 36 A (my usual size) and it was made smaller than my usual bras (and thus caused great difficulties for me in making it work). You may want to consider some "lingerie tape" which is about $7 a dispenser to make sure everything stays snug and secure. You can probably find them in local stores too like Walmart.

Why do women, and girls, wear bras?

Can plus size women wear strapless bras?

Answer
yes if there are strapless bras in your size. The band of a bra is where you get 90 percent of the support of the bra. There are strapless bras up to a size GG and band sizes up to 40. There are some brand that do long line bras. These bras are strapless and hold up well.

I'm looking for something like the miraculous push up bra by victoria's secret, but being plus size makes it harder to find! I don't need to go up two cup sizes but i'd like just the pushed up cleavage. thank you for trying to help! :]

Question for women about bras?

randomest

Ok so I can't talk to my mom about it so ill ask people on the Internet. Great idea isn't it?
Ok but my question is what size bra should I wear one of my boobs is a DD and the other is a D. Should I wear a DD bra or a D? If I wear a DD my bra looks weird on my left boob(which is smaller).
1 i have no problem with the different size boobs
2 the problem is that my boobs feel weird in a size D cause my boob tries to escape my bra

Answer
Hey, apologies for not being a woman but two pieces of advice:

1) Go to a store and experiment - not all bras with the same size label actually fit the same way, so you may well find that some specific examples of either size work well for you.

2) If the difference in the size of your breasts is significant, buy a bra which fits the larger breast and then use a 'chicken fillet' (the little gel things - not an actual piece of chicken!) to fill out the smaller breast. That way you'll achieve a balanced look and fit.

Final word - it is COMPLETELY normal to have one breast larger than the other, the majority of women do, and it's not unusual for the difference to be significant. So don't feel there's anything wrong or unattractive about you - you're fine, it just makes bra shopping a bit annoying, that's all! :)

Why do women wear bras?

Taz

Why do women need to wear bras? I know they're for support etc etc but even women with very small bust wear bras? I have a very big chest and bras are such a pain, i was just wondering whether the really do 'work'
Thanks :)

Answer
To begin there's not an exact law that women should or should not wear bras in the first place. They are mainly for support like you said, and often women with large bust's can get back pain if they do not wear a decent bra. Also young girls in puberty may get a bust that may sag if they don't wear a bra as it will help during their development. A lot of women with a smaller bust also wear padded and push up bras to make their bust look bigger!

What is soft porn?

April

When does it become hardcore porn?

Answer
Softcore (or soft porn) is a form of pornography, either video or nude glamour photography, that is less explicit than hardcore material in depicting or describing sexual behaviour. Softcore does not depict explicit sexual contact, but ranges from nudity to simulated intercourse. While both softcore and hardcore feature sexual situations with the intention of arousing the viewer, the key difference is that softcore does not clearly show aroused genitalia (including masturbation), ejaculation, or penetration (vaginal, anal and/or oral). Some softcore porn, especially recently, is more explicit in that penises or vulvae are shown as well as contact in those areas. In milder forms of softcore porn, much of the nudity is implied, such as the handbra technique, with only limited nipple exposure.

Im size 36B and was wondering if theres a really good pushup bra to purchase? Im 19 so i would like something stylish yet something that will hold. I have never had a bra that will actually compliment them. im tired of them always being low and out of place. brand names, sites, anything would help!

Answer
VICTORIAS SECRET!!
I almost always get my bras there. You can get different 'swells', so there's different bras for if you want more or less of a lift.

I usually just go to the PINK section because I'm still 16, and I prefer their patterns, but if you want something more basic, more sexy, or more mature, go to the regular section.

They're 2 for 49$

Here's a PINK Bra:

Plus, they have deals for their bras, like getting 2 for a certain price.

I want to know about bra history & best supplier in this brand ?

abolfazl_s

Answer
The Bra or Brassiere is a piece of garment covering or restraining the breasts. It dates back to 6,500 years ago in Greece.

Personally, the best supplier of bras would be the brand that makes the most comfortable bras for YOU. Everyone's breasts are different you see.

I think Victoria's Secret is deserves the "best" title for their marketing. In terms of comfort, quality and value - I think it's questionable. :)

Pushup Bras??????????

Mags

I'm 14 and alot of girls wear pushup bras. I personally feel like their fake. Like why would you wear a bra just to try and make your boobs bigger? I know guys like boobs, but i get hit on plenty enough in regular bras. I wear C cups naturally. Is that big for my age? Is it weird that i dont wear pushup? I wear very thinly padded bras, for a smooth look. People always tell me how lucky i am to have nice boobs, so would a pushup be too much? Any input is great, thanks!

Answer
c is a good cup..im 20and only have a b...so your lucky! you dont need pushups...you just be you!! you dont have to coppy everyone els..REMEMBER THAT!! plus the girls that do were push ups are going to look Flat when they were bikinis or get naked infront of boys! lol
you will stil look the same..

so yea just wear a thinly paded bra..thats what i do..its the best thing..instead of being fake!

neglectful friends aren't friends at all, these type of friends will not stand by you when you are in trouble. Having these so called "friends" would only mean more trouble, they will only use you for their own good and kick you away the next day when you are of no more use to them, i would rather keep to my imaginary friend.

Need suggestions for a clear back dance bra for a VERY busty fairly petite woman =)?

monkie254

Hello! I have been having a really REALLY hard time finding a bra to wear under my leos for class. I am a 32 or 34 DDD and am only 5'2 and about 130lbs so i am VERY blessed! I have been wearing sports bras under my leos or the half leos under my regular leos for extra support which they give, but they look so bad under some of my prettier open back leos. Any suggestions for dance bras with a clear back that are good for a bustier girl?? Thank you =)

Answer
revolution came out with a multi way bra for dancers. It is nude in the front and very supportive. It has a clear strap in the back, and it is convertible to a cross back, racer back, spagetti, halter, strapless, multi strapless, and it is only $22. My friend is a 44 DD and she is a large, so you would probably be a medium, maybe large.

its called a convertible bra, and comes with clear straps too!!!

Where can I find bras for petite women?

I'm 4'10" and even when I adjust my bra straps to the shortest, they tend to be too long. As a 34C, I need the straps' support. Anyone know anywher I can find something?

Why do women moan during sex?

THE BEARDE

It seems every sex video I see and with the few women I've been with they all moaned. I don't think it's genuine because I heard someone say they fake it to be polite and let the guy know he's doing a good job pleasing her. Just be honest women, is it like that? Guys don't fake it or at least I don't think they do but they still get pleasure, so why do women fake it? Are they not getting any pleasure out of it at all?

Answer
The majority of women in porn videos are faking it - the moaning is supposed to add to the arousal of the lame men drooling over the porn. Okay, so that's a generalisation, but hey, that's pretty much what it's all about. The women you've had sex with may have moaned genuinely, or may have moaned to try and please you. Moaning (when it's the real deal) is sort of like an uncontrollable reflex to extreme pleasure - this is a silly metaphor but it's like when someone hurts you and you say 'ouch', when someone sexually pleases you, you say 'ahhh'. Haha! But a lot of women do fake it; I know a girl who has never recieved an orgasm from a man and has had to fake it every time. Guys should be thankful that the girl continues to have sex with them and pretend to enjoy it rather than saying 'you suck' and finding someone else. Part of the reason I want to be with a woman is because I want to treat her well and please her sexually too - unlike all the men in the porn industry and most of the men in society.

End rant!

(Sex) Why do some women moan more than others?

I know I know what im doing but all of My last girlfriends during sex Would moan loud sometimes scream.

My girlfriend now only moans sometimes when were really going at it and it feels like she's just doing it too do it? Is there something wrong with her? Lol.

Answer
Women who have experience in the sex trade know that moaning louder is more exciting for men and will bring them more MONEY, that is why they are much louder than natural women who don't fake.

But Research Studies show that, no matter how good prostitutes are at acting, they enjoy sex much less than normal women because because they hate men, they envy men, they compete with men and they only use sex as a tool to exploit men. After marriage: they stop forever unless you keep holding a carrot as an incentive to motivate them. Good luck!
