Where to find a mastectomy bra?

Mookie

My grandmother had a mastectomy years back, and her insurance covers a free breast prosthesis and 2 bras. The problem is, the place she was accustomed to going is no longer open! The next available certified place is Nordstroms, and the Fitting "Specialist" appears to be no older than 20 y/o, and has about as much experience as I do! We've notified our insurance company about our dilemma, they claim only Nordstroms is available in our area. It's time for her renewal, she was hardly satisfied with the bras from last year, and we have no alternative. Any suggestions out there? We're welcome to all, this is so discouraging! Thanks to all feedback!
Thank you much, ladies, for the indepth info. I copied and asked this question in a different category, desperate to hear options, you wouldn't believe the inconsiderate answers I received! This has been such great support, breast prostethetic supplies are limited here, most have gone out of business, they were your local med supply stores that can't compete with big distributors. Doctors, sadly, just simply aren't informed, and you called it Honey, insurance is king! Sassy I wish you the best in your fight; my grandmother is 11 years strong bc survivor, my mother passed from it at 32, my aunt was just diagnosed. Thank you all tons, this helps!

Answer
Nordies can sew pockets in her favorite bras too. . . ask to see the seamstress who does this. I bet she knows a bit. . . also, Nordstrom's is a department store so they have a decent sized staff--ask the department manager who's got the most experience and when she's working. The mast. bra co's have training classes and actually certify the fitters--so even if Ms. Teenybopper can't do it--someone else can.

Also your Grandmother's cancer center may have a boutique that does fittings. Mine does. And our lady is AWESOME! She can direct bill the bras through insurance too so I left with two bras and a prothesis--actually 3. . . I needed a couple different shapes/types .. . . a couple were donated and were the heavier type but man they LOOk real (in the bra at least.)

Oh hey also, you could get Grandma fitted at another store and then go to Nordie's and buy what the other store recommended. . . sneaky but works.

Good luck.

Bustier or adhesive bra?

MC

My wedding dress is clingy, especially around the torso. And it has a low back.

I also need some oomph in the bustline to fill it out. Sewn in bra cups don't work very well and are slightly visible.

So I need a bustier that is smooth/seamless, low-backed, and push-up. Does something like that actually exist?

Also are the sticky bras a better option?

Here is my dress:

Answer
I've seen halter style low back bras that would fill the bill - you would have to have the straps attached to the straps of the dress so that they don't show.

Bra shopping?

x.Charlene

I'm having a bit of trouble finding shops that do a selection of bras that go up to my size. I'm quite petite, but I'm a size 34F and I am pretty much restricted to places that are really expensive, and don't evan look that good!! Anyone know of any good places? Thanks xx
even** sorry..

Answer
Whoo! You are petite!
I'm a 38F, but still have some of the same problem. I mean who wants to spend $70 on a granny bra?!
I have to order mine online from Fredricks of Hollywood http://www.fredricks.com
I believe they carry your size, and they have a huge assortment of bras!
Depending on where you live, it takes a few weeks to ship. I live in Northern Alberta, Canada, it cost $180 Canadian for four bras (this was the total bill after shipping and the U.S. exchange.
I think they are at a pretty decent price.
Good Luck!

Are bras a law in your family?

Q. If you're a mom, do you make your daughter(s) wear a bra? Are they allowed to be braless if they want? If you're a gil, are you allowed to be braless if you want? Is there any punishment in case of rebelling or disobedience? What punishment?.
I'm 13 and I have to wear a bra, it's a mom's law. She even choses my bras, because she says she's more experienced. This is a law. She's not harsh, she treats me with much love and I know she wants my best. But when it comes to bras I think she goes overboard, not fore making me wear one (I'm a C cup, I need one) but for choosing my bras.

Answer
Braless should be a choice when you've come home and are getting ready for bed---sleeping without one is best!

You're 13---MOM knows best in picking out bras for you. MOM pays the bills ----When you are old enough to get a JOB and support your buying then MOM will step aside and let you purchase the bras you want.

My daughter is 15 and I still purchase all of her under clothing---She's a large busted size too. She prefers the sports bras due to being an athlete in school.

Your day and time will come and you'll be thankful then that MOM footed the bill for the bra items. They're expensive!!

A question for girls (regarding bras and camisoles)?

Bunnie

im 5ft 3in and a 34A
i have two questions.

The first one is....

Where can i find a comfy, affordable, and supportive bra? Can you list some brands, stores, and websites. If it matters im 13.

Next my Camisole question is,
Are you supposed to wear a bra under your camis or what?
i luv my camis and wear them more than my bras but they are not supportive at all. Seriously i feel like they're just hanging there.
so do you wear a bra under it? When i take my cami out of the wash (like after they've been in the laundry) the cami is pretty supportive but after about an hour i guess the material in the cami starts getting all loose and then im back to looking all "out of place".

Thanks for all your help

p.s. for question one i rather you not list any underwire bras, they are mega uncomfortable for me.

Answer
You can go just about anywhere for bras. I wouldn't go to Victoria Secret or anything like that because those can certainly run up a bill. I would say target or even Wal-mart. I'm 18 and I still get some of my bras at Wal-mart. They are wayy cheaper than victoria secret and are really comfortable. They are really cute and i'm a 34 C so i've tried quite a bit of bras. Plus I know quite a bit of them do not come with underwires because i've bought one or two of them just to chill around with when i'm with my boyfriend.

As for the tang top question I would say wear the bra under the tang top. You don't have to but it would make you feel a little more supportedd. I've worn tang tops forever because I don't really like to show what I got when I wear a revealing shirt I just throw one of those on under :)
